Moneyball.

Mr. Pitt looked so much like Robert Redford. Too handsome Monsieur.

The song that his daughter(Kerris Dorsey) sang in the scene, I liked it.

I’m just a little bit caught in the middle

Life is a maze and love is a riddle

I don’t know where to go, can’t do it alone

I’ve tried and I don’t know why

I’m just a little girl lost in the moment

I’m so scared but I don’t show it

I can’t figure it out, it’s bringing me down

I know I’ve got to let it go and just enjoy the show

Well, it seems that ‘I’ am caught in the middle right now and I am also scared but do not show it to them. To whom I’m supposed to show it?

Actually, I know that I’ve got the answer.  Just had time for thinking about this moment of my life. It’s just a small part of trials and tribulations of my entire life, isn’t it?

Ayuttaya

Last night, on the bed, before approaching unconsciousness, I thought of Ayuttaya, one of greatest Siamese kingdoms in its history.

It’s always interesting for me to look back to the past or rather glance at it, letting me imagine the people and their life in that very era while I’m standing on the asphalt paved in 20/21th century .

It was a great kingdom of 17th century even to the eyes of French people. As visiting the sites, looking at the remains in admiration, I felt that it was, needless to say, a wonderfully designed and civilized(cultured) kingdom. But the reality is unpalatable; now it only has its shadow, its ruins.

A dream

I dreamt of him last night.

In the last scene, he was saying good bye to me with his old girlfriend, with considerably brighter and happier smile.

Weird thing: if I think of someone much during the day, that night, I always dream of him/her. These days, yes, I started to think of him, again.

Epée de chevet

I was looking for some word in French dictionary and I happened to discover this expression <épée de chevet>.  “Epée” means a sword and “chevet” is the head of a bed(bedhead). This expression means a thing or a friend on which we are able to rely. I liked this expression and I was wondering whether it’s commun to use in French culture. So I asked one of my French friends if she used this expression and she answered she never knew it.  Because it’s too old, I suppose? Maybe…

She let me know some other words for best friend, instead. As for me, however, it doesn’t really sound to be the same… the nuance… a friend who is able to save my life as a sword just beside me all through the night. I do not doubt that I have best friends but I wonder if they could possibly be my épée de chevet.

I liked other expressions with “chevet” ; livre de chevet(book of bedhead, meaning “one’s favorite book”) ; veiller[rester] au chevet de qn(stay at someone’s bedhead, meaning “taking care of somebody”)
